Foundation was established in honor of the late Eric B. Mays, a tireless advocate for the people of Flint. Serving as a city councilman for the First Ward, Eric was known for his unwavering commitment to the community and his refusal to back down from challenges. A longtime member and position holder of the UAW union, Eric dedicated his life to service, fighting for workers’ rights and the well-being of Flint’s residents.

Eric’s tenure as a city councilman was marked by his bold, unapologetic approach to governance. He was a controversial figure, not because he sought conflict, but because he refused to compromise on his principles. Eric fought relentlessly for the people of Flint, never hesitating to speak truth to power and demand better for his constituents.
The Eric B. Mays Foundation is committed to carrying forward his mission by providing advocacy, community engagement, and targeted support services. Our goal is to empower Flint’s seniors, enhance their quality of life, and build a stronger, more connected community for all. We believe that by honoring Eric’s legacy of fighting for what is right, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Eric Bradford Mays (September 16, 1958 – February 24, 2024) was an American auto worker and politician. Mays served as a member of the Flint City Council from November 2013 until his death in 2024, representing northwest Flint as the councilor from the city's first ward. During his tenure, Mays was known to be highly controversial due to several incidents where he was suspended and escorted out of city council meetings. He was also widely known on social media, particularly for his catchphrase, "Point of Order!".
